McCalls Sewing Patterns - Hints and Tips
Pretty much every seamstress loves McCalls Sewing Patterns. You can use them to make all sorts of different projects, such as Halloween costumes, prom dresses, children's clothing, and much, much more. If you are an inexperienced seamstress, but would like to try your hand at a project, here are a few great tips for you to use.
1. When you are in need of ideas for a fun project, consider browsing through the McCalls pattern book. You can always pick this up at your local craft store or even online. Then you can pick a project that is labeled as easy or beginner. Sometimes the advanced McCalls sewing patterns can be really confusing. The beginners ones are easy to learn yourself by simply reading and using the instructions.
2. To decide how much fabric you will need, first you will need to choose a sewing fabric that you would like to make the project out of. Next, you have to determine how wide the fabric is. If you cannot figure it out, make sure to ask someone who can like an employee. Every McCalls pattern has a guide in it that will tell you how many yards of the fabric you will need depending on the width.
3. When you're cutting the fabric for the McCalls sewing patterns and you see the little triangles, you should cut them out as well. These are designed to help you line the pieces of the project up later when you're sewing the pieces together.
4. If you look closely at your sewing pattern you will see that sometimes there are three or four lines that merge together into one line. Continue cutting along this one line until the sizes branch back out into individual lines. Then follow the pattern for your size again.
