Decorating A Bathroom
The bathroom is one of those places in your house that everyone goes into sooner or later so you want it to look great, right? Here are some tips on decorating a bathroom:
When you are first starting out, you are going to have to get a shower curtain as the center of your design. The best ones to get will have a nice design on them, even if they are a single color, the design will add a little panache to the room. You will also want to choose one with the heavy cloth on the outside and sturdy vinyl on the inside.
Once you have decided on your shower curtain, you should match all of your towels and rugs to match it. If it is a single color, it is pretty easy, but if you have a multi color curtain, you can either draw a color that is in the background out or stay with the dominant color theme.
One important part of decorating a bathroom is making sure you put in enough “stuff” without going overboard. Before you buy your towels and rugs, make sure you check to see how many towel racks you have. You should have one on the door to dry out the wet towels, one in the shower to hang your towel that you are going to use and one by the sink for hand towels. You may also want to place on over the toilet if the space will allow it. This will be more for decorative towels than anything else. Once you have them all in place, you will know exactly how many towels you are going to need.
Once you have all of that in place, it is time to paint the walls. For this, you will use a neutral color that is NOT the dominant color of the shower curtain. If it is multi-colored, you can pull out one of the background colors but it should be something lighter.
Before you put the final touches on, you need to make sure you have all the accessories. Trash can, tooth brush holder, comb and hair brush holder, tissue holder and a soap dispenser. Now everything is nice, neat and in order.
As with other rooms, you want to add some of your own style when decorating a bathroom. Once you have that painted and all your towels and rugs are in place, it is time to add a personal touch. Whether it is a basket of potpourri, some candles or a nice print or photo of someplace you love, adding this unique touch will make the room your own.
